Defence Space Administration Recruitment 2019/2020: The Defense Space Administration (DSA) was established by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to: develop and operate military space technologies; Support Nigerian military operations inside and outside the country, as well as security agencies responsible for internal security, through the use of satellites; Provide flexible and affordable space and cyberspace capabilities to the Nigerian armed forces and other security and law enforcement agencies.

The Federal Defence Space Administration (DSA) hereby invites applications from suitably qualified Nigerians for employment as civilian staff within the capacity below:

Position Title: Earth Observation Officer
Job Description

  • Data Collection, analyzing data, Compiling Excel Spreadsheets, coding and re-coding data and using MATLAB.
  • Processing, editing, and manipulation of Geospatial imagery and derived classification products.
  • Imagery Change Detection, Feature Extraction, View Shed Analysis, Cost-Distance Analysis, Travel-time Analysis and advanced multi-criteria analyses using complex arrays of data inputs.

Job Requirements

  • Must be proficient in GIS/ Remote Sensing Software such as;
    Erdas Imagine
    ArcGIS
    ENVI
    GRASS
    Remote View Pro. 4
    GD GIS/Remote Sensing
  • MSc GIS/Remote Sensing is an added advantage

Educational Qualification

  • B.Sc/HND in either Geography, Land Survey or other Environmental Science courses. BSc Physics, BSc Geology, BSc Geo-informatics, PGD GIS or Remote sensing.
  • Only applicants with First Class and Second Class Upper Division first degrees and those with HND Distinctions and HND Upper Credit polytechnic certificates may apply. Cognate experience in the subject discipline will be an added advantage.

Position Title: Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Engineer
Job Description

  • Perform analysis and studies of next-generation Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).
  • Design and perform experiments to evaluate and improve orbit determination preference.
  • Perform orbit determination for a variety of satellite missions using real and simulated data.
  • Design and perform experiments to evaluate and improve orbit determination performance.
  • Perform analyses and studies for next-generation GNSS designs and architectures.
  • Process mission data and perform mission-level and system-level analyses.
  • Provide positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) technical analyses in support of satellite navigation activities.
  • Provide PNT services including orbit determination, geo-positioning and space-based navigation such as GPS.
  • Perform a variety of assignments related to the accuracy of position, velocity determination and trajectory analysis.

Job Requirements

  • Familiarity with anti-jam antennas and signal processing
  • Knowledge of threats to PNT systems and their effective counter-measures
  • Familiarity with emerging PNT technologies from industry or academia.
  • Experience in PNT systems of systems engineering, design, technical evaluation, or acquisition oversight
  • Knowledge of hardware including radio frequency (RF) through digital and embedded processing
  • Understanding of PNT dependencies with other capabilities such as tactical communications, command and control, or targeting
  • Experience with understanding gaps, formulating technical solutions, and also providing acquisition oversight for enterprise modernization of Joint PNT systems.
  • Broad technical familiarity in PNT systems (spanning space/ground/user segment technologies), military and commercial.
  • Understanding of weapon systems that rely on or incorporate PNT systems
  • Strong communications background (verbal and written)

Position Title: Computer Programmer
Job Description

  • Develop programs in a variety of computer languages, such as C, C++, JAVA, MATLAB, SIMULINK, ROCKSIM, ANSYS, SOLIDWORKS and RPA. Debug programs by testing for and fixing errors. Build and use computer-assisted software engineering (CASE) tools to automate the writing of some code. Must be very proficient in C, C++, JAVA and PYTHON

Job Requirements

Position Title: Software Engineer – Navigation
Job Description

  • Work with developers to design algorithms and flowcharts for new navigation application systems, produce clean, efficient code based on specifications and integrate software components and third-party programs.
  • Verification and deployment of programs and systems.
  • Troubleshooting, debugging and upgrading existing software.
  • Responsible for gathering and evaluating user feedback.
  • Recommending and executing improvements and also creating technical documentation for reference and reporting.

Position Title: Radio Navigation Engineer
Job Description

  • GNSS System Implementation and Verification including support to System Test Campaigns using System Tools including Radio Navigation Receivers.
  • Participation in the overall Radio Navigation R&D roadmap for the definition of high Technology Readiness Level (TRL) activities.
  • Support the DSA in the monitoring of industrial contracts for the development of radio navigation (System Support) tools and equipment including receivers and for studies on radio navigation, including generating technical requirements and statements of work.
  • Participation in studies, simulations and laboratory testing for the assessment of system end-to-end functionalities and performance, including measurement campaigns, data processing, and field testing, also applied to radio navigation receivers design and techniques.

Job Requirements

  • Strong experience at the user level with satellite navigation receivers and satellite navigation positioning and integrity algorithms.
  • At least 4 years’ experience relevant to GNSS systems and equipment including receivers and good knowledge of Radio Navigation processing, simulation, and testing systems.
  • Specific and Strong knowledge of the design of satellite navigation systems, ranging and positioning techniques, RF, and signal processing techniques, focusing on navigation receivers.
  • Knowledge in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation processing, simulation and test facilities for spacecraft, aircraft, maritime and land mobile applications.

  • B.Sc or M.Sc in Telecommunications and Signal Processing or Electronic Engineering,

Position Title: Systems Engineer
Job Description

  • Should be able to support management and operations of all ICT infrastructure, equipment and services.
  • Provide user support and technical/functional specialist support to the office.
  • Ensures that ICT-delivered services and end-user needs are met, understood and foresee ICT configuration changes.
  • Prepare and draft ICT operational, technical, hardware requirements and specifications and Update and maintain the ICT equipment inventory.
  • Assist users in solving technical problems and investigating elevated issues by confirming the validity of the problem and seeking for known solutions.

Position Title: Satellite Systems Engineer
Job Description

  • Designs programs that direct orbiting satellites and keep them functioning properly.
  • Creates satellite command systems that remotely control satellite activities from ground stations.
  • Conducts testing of communication systems, collect data that tracks satellite trends and behaviour and write status reports.

Job Requirements

  • B.Eng Elect/Elect Engr, Telecoms Engr or BSc Computer Science
  • ONF-Certified SDN Associate Certification, OCSA Certification Preparation training.
  • Maximum age: 28 years
